After testing the car subscription waters with their Dallas/Fort Worth-based “Audi Select” program, Audi is taking an indefinite pause to assess the data they’ve gathered and determine the future of their subscription-based business model.
Audi Select’s Dallas/Fort Worth run had always been intended as a trial, and with added economic strain from the ongoing pandemic, now seemed like the right time to shutter the doors. Audi hasn’t stated whether or not this signifies the permanent end of Audi Select, but has indicated that a new, innovative service is in the works.
With Audi Select’s service now finished, here are a few great alternatives available in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for you to check out:
Hertz My Car – Hertz’s very own car subscription service is available at all corporate airport and neighborhood locations and offers a solid, three tiered subscription service. Though it may not be the most innovative or ground-breaking subscription service, Hertz My Car covers just about every base you could want from a subscription service, and integrates seamlessly with existing Hertz accounts.
Care by Volvo – Essentially a 24-month lease in the form of car-subscription-like all-inclusive monthly payments, Volvo offers a service as useful and reliable as the cars it produces. With excellent customer service, a Volvo model for any of your needs, and a monthly fee with excellent coverage, Volvo is a great alternative for previous Audi Select members.
SIXT+ – Rental company SIXT offers a highly customizable car subscription service, and is a great option for everyday driving. Instead of selecting a specific model, customers choose a car “type” with a set monthly fee and are guaranteed a car that fits their needs. Keep in mind that driving restrictions vary by state, which can affect where you’ll be able to drive your SIXT+ car.
Audi Select Review – Complete Review
Audi Select is Audi’s new car subscription service that operates in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. For an all-inclusive monthly fee, customers have access to a selection of Audi vehicles, as well as all the other subscription goodies like insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, and a concierge service. Audi also offers two swaps per month. Subscribers also get two days worth of rental service, complimentary, from Silvercar – Audi’s rental service.
The result of many mergers and acquisitions dating back to the early twentieth century, the modern Audi we’ve all come to know wasn’t fully realized until the late 1960’s, when Volkswagen bought and merged two different auto companies together.
Today, Audi cars are sold worldwide, with 13 production facilities in 10 countries.
What does a Audi Select subscription look like?
Subscribers choose between two available “collections” of cars, either the “Core Collection” or the “Premier Collection”. The Core Collection is the cheaper of two, the only real difference being the number of available models. If they want, subscribers can swap to a new Audi twice a month. However, Audi makes it mandatory to swap to a new vehicle after 180 for maintenance and inspection purposes. Subscription accounts can be managed through Audi’s website or by phone, as can swaps.
Once you get your Audi Select car, you’ll be able to drive it as far as you like – there is no mileage limit. Additionally, Audi gives all Audi Select members a promotional code for 48 hours of Silvercar rental service.
How much does it cost?
The Core Collection comes in at $995 per month, and the Premier Collection comes in at $1,495 per month.
Where does it operate?
Audi Select service is currently limited to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas, though Audi has plans to expand to other cities soon.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up through Audi Select’s website. Click on the “Get Started” link at the top of the page and you’ll be guided through the process of creating an account. You’ll then select which plan you want – either the Core Collection or the Premier Collection. Audi will check your credit and your driving history, then once you’ve been approved, you’ll be able to schedule the delivery of your first Audi Select car.
Am I eligible for Audi Select?
To create an account, you must be at least 25 years old and have a valid driver’s license and payment method. Any additional drivers added to your account must be at least 21.
How long do I have to wait for my new car?
Once you’ve been approved, you can expect to get your first car within 24 hours.
Can I try the service before I commit to it?
Audi doesn’t currently offer any kind of trial period.
Can I swap vehicles?
Audi Select allows its subscribers two swaps per month. However, Audi will require a vehicle swap after 180 days of subscribing to a single car.
How do I cancel Audi Select?
To cancel, you’ll have to email firstname.lastname@example.org and let them know. Make sure to let Audi know at least a week before your next monthly term begins. Unfortunately, you won’t be refunded for any remaining time on your current monthly term.
Audi Select vs. Lease
The big differences here are the all-inclusive monthly fee, and the two swaps per month. With a traditional lease, you’re committing multiple years to a single vehicle. With Audi Select you’re committing to possibly three different cars on a per-month basis, with insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, and concierge service all included. Audi’s two swaps per month doesn’t distance its service from traditional leases as much as some other subscription services, but it’s still middle of the road in terms of subscription offerings.
Which cars are available?
This depends on which collection you’ve chosen. Subscribing to the Core Collection gives you access to the Audi A4 sedan, the Q5 SUV, the S3 sports sedan, and the Audi TT.
Subscribing to the Premier Plan gives you all the cars from the Core Collection, plus the S5 Coupe, the A6 sedan, the Q7 SUV, and the A5 Cabriolet.
What is included in the Audi Select monthly price?
The Audi monthly price includes insurance, unlimited mileage, maintenance, roadside assistance, concierge service, and two swaps per month.
Unlike most other subscription services, Audi offers an unlimited mileage allowance. So there’s no need to worry about counting miles.
Audi’s insurance covers up to $300,000 in uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, up to $300,000 combined single limit in bodily injury and property damage, $2,000 in medical payments, and a $1,000 deductible.
Also, you’ll get two free days of Silvercar rental service, and all Audi Select cars come with Sirius XM radio.
What is not included in the Audi Select monthly price?
Not much honestly. You’ll have to pay the cost of refilling the vehicle with gas if you return it with less than a full tank. Also, any tolls or traffic violations are your financial responsibility.
Is Audi Select right for you?
It’s not cheap but it’s also not exuberantly expensive. You also get to use multiple new, or at least showroom quality, Audis for unlimited miles. If you’re a big Audi fan, and want the simplicity and flexibility of a subscription service, Audi Select might be just what you’re looking for.
